The All New Volkswagen Golf R
More Power, Lower Price. Volkswagen promise to offer an increase in power and a drop in price to attract other customers to the way of the Volkswagen Golf. The idea is to reclaim the market share that was once there before the likes of the Ford Fiesta ST.
It is thought that the new Volkswagen Golf will be cheaper than ever before and will be priced in the region of £30,000. The Golf model will be powered by a 2.0 litre turbo engine that will have the ability to drive all four of the wheels. Volkswagen have looked to address the issue of weight on the Volkswagen Golf model and have already shaved off 150kg for the Golf GTI and this time round the weight difference is supposed to be in the region of of 100kg.
The New Volkswagen Golf R is thought to have the technological advances that give the car the ability to offer torque vectoring through the form of an electronically powered slip differential which will result in a reduction in under steer.
The New Volkswagen Golf R has not yet been officially released and the plan is to release the model a the Frankfurt Motor Show sometime in the near future. However, a release date in the UK is thought to be sometime in the new year of 2014.
The success of the Ford Fiesta was there for all to see in 2012 and the Volkswagen brand certainly stood up and took notice as they developed new and rival models. The Ford Fiesta along with the Ford Focus looked to round out the 2012 year as both numbers one and two in the top ten best selling cars of the year. The Ford Fiesta ran out clear winner in Northern Ireland as the model contributed for more than a third of the countries car sales as a whole. The new developments at Ford and Volkswagen will be an exciting process for all in the motor industry.
