Volkswagen T ROC Concept
The new Crossover model at Volkswagen has been released at the Geneva Motor Show today. The new Volkswagen T Roc model will sit in between the new UP based crossover model and the top of the range Tiguan.
As well as this model, Volkswagen have also revealed a new CrossPolo model which is set to give it the edge in the larger crossover and smaller crossover market respectively. The new T Roc model has already been described by a number of automotive based journalists as being radically designed and set to rival the likes of the Nissan Qashqai.
The model is set to rival the Qashqai in every way, the Volkswagen crossover model is larger and the features a mounted higher than any other models on the Volkswagen range. The honeycomb grille and the 4x4 look of the model suggests that it has a number of off road abilities.
However, like so many other crossover models in the car market at the moment, it is very much doubtful that the model does so. Volkswagen have confirmed that the model will be powered by the award winning Volkswagen Golf engine in the form of the 2.0 litre diesel engine. The engine would help the T Roc hit the 0-62 in just under seven seconds.
The Crossover market has been one of the fastest emerging markets in automotive history. The Nissan brand successfully brought the Juke and the Qashqai models to the European Car Market and demand went through the roof in selective markets such as the UK. However, 9 months after the immediate success, rivals such as Ford and Vauxhall jumped on the bandwagon and released rival models.
Since then a wide range of other manufacturers such as Kia, Renault and Volkswagen have all joined the market to make it one of the most heavily congested markets today. Nissan officially released a statement shortly after the arrival of the Vauxhall Mokka and Ford EcoSport models. The statement simply illustrated how the other models had influenced sales and caused a slow in demand. However, like the Volkswagen Golf, the Nissan models have not stopped selling.
