Ford Fiesta ST production increased

Ford have boosted the production of the Fiesta ST by 15% to meet the high levels of customer demand it has received. The model is proving to be significantly more popular than the company had originally predicted, over half of the annual production run has sold just three months after the launch of the car.

This has led Ford to announce that it will be increasing the production of the Ford Fiesta ST by 15%, which would take the number of cars being built each day to 60, due to the high levels of demand from consumers. The United Kingdom's appetite for the ST is proving bigger than most vehicles too, with 56% of all orders across Europe being made in United Kingdom Ford dealers.

The model is built on the sane line as the standard Fiesta at the Ford factory in Cologne, an annual production run of 5,000 ST models is planned and began in April of this year. The company has now sold over 3,000 of it's first United Kingdom's allocations, which means that it could actually sell twice as many as it originally predicted.

Due to the backlog of orders the waiting list is currently three months, which takes into account a three week summer shutdown at the factory which started at the end of July. So if you were to place an order today, you would have your new car by the start of November.

The Ford Fiesta ST undercuts it's main rivals, the Peugeot 208 GTI and the Renaultsport Clio by around £2,000. Prices for the ST start at £16,995 for the entry levels model, whilst adding on £1,000 can buy the ST 2, which comes with half leather recaro seats, keyless entry, LED running lights and climate control.

Ford confirmed that 56% of buyers have actually opted for the higher specification ST-2 model. They also announced an official Mountune package, which costs a further £599 and lifts the power of the engine to 212 brake horsepower.
