DS outline plans for a new SUV and saloon range

DS are well known for the partnership in which they have shared with the Citroen brand over the years and recently the company has broken off on their own in hopes of making it big in the automotive industry all alone. The company along with Citroen are well known for their popular DS3 city car which has proven to be one of the biggest success stories for the company over the years. DS have now however outlined plans which will see them bring in a range of new SUV and saloon models onto the market by the year 2020.

The new DS plan over the next five years

The company are planning to introduce a range of six new vehicle families and the development of the brand new models is claimed to be underway already in time for 2020. Arnaud Ribauld who is the president of sales and marketing of DS has stated that they would be developing the saloon range and SUV as their two main priorities. He also outlined how there would be more than just the one version of each vehicle. He also said that the main markets for vehicles in this day and age are both saloon and sedan markets. Therefore it would only make sense for DS to market this sector of audience in hopes of raising their game and producing some great sales figures and popularity over the course of the next few years.

The SUV sector is currently dominated by the likes of the Qashqai from Nissan and the X5 from BMW with saloon models being a popular choice amongst Jaguar-Land Rover buyers aswell as other firms. So it is only to be expected that DS would focus their attention on these well established companies when it comes to ideas and plans for the new range.

Where does this leave the DS and Citroen partnership?

Well the company are still doing business together mainly in the World Rally Championship where they have celebrated success in the past with Citroen rally cars. In the future though the rally car will come in the form of a DS with Citroen being the big sponsor. From next year onwards though, Citroen badges on DS vehicles are to be taken away making the DS the headline act for the vehicles. With over 1,455,000 vehicles being produced by the two companies in joint partnership over the years, it is the end of an era for both companies but a new journey to also be embarked upon by both brands too.
