Angus in Scotland, cheapest for car repairs

The County of Angus in Scotland, is allegedly the cheapest location to get your vehicle fixed, according to a recent United Kindom wide survey. The average amount that local garages in the area charge for around 60 minutes labour has fallen by over 21% this year, to just over £62.

London, unsurprisingly was the most expensive place to have your car repaired, where the average for the hour was over £89. The recent survey found that the cost of getting your vehicle fixed in the United Kingdom had actually fell over the past year.

The hourly average rate of non franchised and franchised workshops was £74.70, which is down by around 9.8% from last year.

The reasons for the price fall was put down to aggressive loyalty programmes from manufacturers, increased competition from fast fit firms and motorists being more willing to shop around to find the best possible deal.

There were five areas of Scotland featured in the top 10 cheapest areas for repairs, including East Lothian, where the average was £64.23 an hour, Aberdeenshire where the average was £65.61, Renfrewshire had an average of £65.64 per hour and Fife an average of £66.49.

Though across the country prices had fell on average by 10% across the country, there were some areas that experienced larger rises and falls.

West Lothian, also in Scotland saw rates of labour increase by over 20% over the period, whilst in Cornwall, they fell by around 19%.
