The Changed Nissan Leaf

The Changed Nissan Leaf

Nissan have long been front runners in the electric car market and they plan on there being no change. However, with the addition of the BMW I range and the new e-range at Volkswagen, it seems that the German manufacturers may be the ones to shake up the market.

The Nissan Leaf expected competition to come its way as sales continued to increase and infrastructure for the electric car continues to grow. The Sunderland built model was then planned for an updated version to counteract the following additions to the market.

Nissan have promised that over 100 changes will be made to the new Nissan Leaf, which will hopefully look to change any unique selling point a new addition such as the Volkswagen e-Golf may have.

BMW like many other manufacturers have seen the success of the electric car market and the success of the Nissan Leaf in particular and have based a whole range of electric based models on that success. The new BMW i3 is the electrically powered vehicle challenged to knock the Nissan model off the top spot. The i3 model will have a battery range of 80-100 miles per charge and an impressive charge up time in and around the 45 minute mark for up to 80% of the charge.

Nissan have expected competition in the two new markets of which they have dominated and exploited. The Crossover market like the electric car market has been a place in which the Japanese brand has ran riot in terms of the sales figures on competition.

Models such as the Juke and the Qashqai have seen sales figures rocket and have consistently featured within the top ten best selling vehicles in the UK over the past 12 months. However, Vauxhall and Ford have both tried to knock them out of the Crossover market and have so far had no luck. Nissan are bracing the challenge ahead for both the electric car market and the crossover market.
