Michael Schumacher and Mercedes Join up


Michael Schumacher has signed a new deal to help Mercedes develop new safety systems. The company announced that they have signed a long term agreement with the seven time F1 Champion and former Driver for F1 Mercedes. 

The company explained that Michael Schumacher's new role for mercedes will be as an ambassador, though it is said to extend far beyond F1 and motorsport. He will be mainly be involved with future topics, the development of  the comfort and safety systems for Mercedes-Benz. This means that Schumacher will be working to help with the finesse of the next generation of the companies suite of driver assist systems that Mercedes have grouped as Intelligent Drive. 

This includes technology such as the adaptive cruise control, auto braking, steering systems, LED headlights and improved night vision that were debuted on the Mercedes E Class facelifted range. Schumacher explained that in F1 he was often able to rely on available technologies to help him in his car and that he could use to his advantage. This is why, he explained, that he is a supporter of driver assist systems both in road cars and racing cars. 

Schumacher makes his first appearance in his brand new role for Mercedes on the 1st of May.
