Volkswagen open orders on the new Golf R Line

The Golf is a vehicle that Volkswagen have continued to transform over the years and thanks to some of these changes brought to the car in the past, it has remained at the top of its segment as one of the best selling hatchbacks of all time. This year the brand are set to bring another range of additions to the car coming in the form of an all new trim level. The new trim is being referred to as the Golf R Line which has been designed with the aim of making the vehicle look more sporty than it ever has done before. The big changes to come with the R Line trim include new design features and the extra pieces of kit that the company have thrown in with the car.

What new kit does the Golf R Line carry?

So we start by looking at the vehicle from the outside. The bodywork has seen some adjustments and new fittings such as the front grille which has received some tweaking, the fog light design on the car is new as are the bumper designs. Add in a new spoiler and a set of seventeen inch alloy wheels and you have a vehicle that fits the sporty segment quite well. The changes don't stop outside of the vehicle though. We also see that the car inside carries a new sports style steering wheel, brand new sports style seats at the front and steel is very much a key ingredient inside of the R Line as both the door sills and accelerator and brake pedals come made from the material too. Volkswagen have confirmed that the standard engine range from the hatch are to carry over to the R Line but only two will be available. The two litre TDI diesel and the 1.4 litre petrol unit.

The rivals and pricing for the Volkswagen Golf R Line

The VW Group have announced that this new model is available to order from your local dealer right now and the car will start to make its way onto the road from this coming March. Prices for the new trim level will begin from £24,190 but if you would prefer the diesel engine fitting, prices will rise by an extra £505 taking the total to £24,695. There are a number of vehicles on the road right now which could prove to be some tough competition for the new Golf R Line and with the same engines being carried over from the standard hatchback, we don't expect the competition to adjust too much. This means that the new R Line will still have the likes of the Ford ST range and the Audi A3 to contend with.
