The Renault 5 is making its return

The Renault 5 was one of the French companies most popular sellers amongst their supermini segment for many years. Production on the very first Renault 5 was began in 1972 after which production of the car was ceased in 1996. If you were a big fan of the motor however, you will love the latest batch of news to come from Renault who have announced that they are all set to bring back the vehicle. Renault are now however taking a new view on just how well the car will perform when it arrives back on the road but at the same time keeping up with the latest in technology advancements by introducing some features of their own. The dashboard inside of the vehicle is one of the big focal points which we will get into later on. The overall emissions delivered by the car is also another area that has been heavily focused on.

The hard work put into the all new Renault 5

Although not confirmed for the vehicle as of yet, it is believed that the car would be only set to carry a small engine which would potentially consist of a one litre capacity in some form. There is also a potential for a hybrid variant of the car too. A return of around 134mpg with 100g/km of Co2 emissions is expected to be delivered from the car. Now for the exciting news.

The new LCD dashboard is set to be one of the biggest features that Renault are to include with this new addition to their line up. Not one but two brand new screens can be found inside the vehicle located in the dashboard and both measure in at seven inches a piece. More screens will also find a place taking the rest of the dashboard up with 15.9 inches being represented in both screens. These new screens will allow both the driver and passenger to activate basic functions within the vehicle with things such as the radio and air conditioning amongst many more items being controllable via the system. Both ios and Android connectivity is also a part of the Renault 5 and its new systems.

What the Renault 5 has to contend with when it launches

Back in its day, the Renault 5 proved to be a top quality contender for the likes of the Fiat Uno and Fiat have progressed a long way since 1996 especially with the take off of their Fiat 500.Fiat could still be expected to be a top flight rival for the Renault 5 but other popular city cars such as the Citroen DS3 are also in the pipeline for being a top rival for the revived car.
