The Development of the Audi Hybrid Supercar

The Development of the Audi Hybrid Supercar

The idea of a Hybrid Super car may seem a little too far-fetched for most in the automotive industry. However, Audi have decided to build a Hybrid Super car with the aim of introducing the Hyper car to the car markets worldwide.

Audi plan on developing the hybrid model and will sit it above the Audi R8 in the range, which will mean that the Audi model will cost a considerable amount of money. Audi as part of the Volkswagen Group have received a mass form of capital to invest in projects such as this one, as the firm quickly tries to gain as much market share from Mercedes and BMW as they can.

Audi have struggled through development and are yet to decide whether the model would be better fitted to being a Petrol of a Diesel model. The popular choice with Hybrid models would be a Diesel engine, however, it is looking more likely that because of the speed and power the car will aim to reach, a petrol engine may well be the best choice for this vehicle. The added fact of Racing and Endurance rule changes will influence the choice as it leans towards the petrol engined model.

Audi have already developed Hybrid and electric models to rival the recent arrival from BMW and Mercedes in the electric car market, but the VW firm still seem to be behind in the development race at Audi. The team at Audi plan on changing the fortunes of the VW Group as they look to develop the next big thing in the form of the Hybrid Super Car.

As briefly mentioned earlier, Audi plan on using the model on the racing circuit and the recent rule change have somewhat forced their hand in the way of developing a drive system to coincide with the Petrol engine. The new rules look to regulate the level of energy within the fuel tank which seems to rule out the advantages that a Diesel engine on the Audi would have.
