The Citroen Cactus Concept

The Citroen Cactus Concept

Citroen is set to take the Cactus model to the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, which may finally make it to production in 2014. Citroen took a previous version of the concept to the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2007, and the new Cactus model may offer a lot more in the way of difference.

Citroen and Peugeot have long developed new models and technology that may spin the company into profitable ways. Citroen themselves have somewhat been involved with a struggle in sales due to the economic climate within Europe and the car market within Europe.    Citroen Cactus Concept

The new Cactus model will go back to basis and back towards the C line production models rather than the DS production line. The new Cactus model will be based on the C4 and is thought to preview the exact production version of the C4 Cactus. The Citroen model is believed to be released shortly, with February 2014 rumoured to be the release date.

Citroen will keep their cards close to their chest in terms of the models taken to the Frankfurt Motor Show as they look to release something different into the market that will inspire people to spend money on a new Citroen model.

The original Cactus shape was more of a conventional hatchback shape, but Citroen questioned what the people would want from a new hatchback model when in the new design process. The answer was not a standard hatchback.

The new shape of the Citroen Cactus model is certainly not conventional and will hope to inspire the nation of France into buying a new Citroen model. The French nation relies heavily on the success of homegrown sales in the automotive market, which is similar to that of the Italian car market.

Italy, like France, has seen a considerable decrease in sales figures over the past 18 months, and manufacturers such as Fiat have struggled. The next couple of years will be interesting for Citroen and Fiat. Can they inspire a change in the way that people are buying cars? Only time will tell.

Will the Cactus be a hit with car buyers? Only time will tell. But one things for sure, Citroen is certainly thinking outside the box with this one!
