The Audi R8 competition set to make its way to the US

In some exciting news for Audi fans, the brand have confirmed that one more limited edition R8 model is set to arrive but the sad news is that it will only be made available in the US and not here in the UK. The model is being known as the R8 competition and only a total of 60 units will be sold. The R8 has been one of the German companies biggest selling sports vehicles of all time and with a brand new version of the car on the horizon, this marks the last limited edition of the current generation of R8. Power for the car has been vastly improved upon thanks to some minor tweaks made to the car in general. Some other new exterior features will also help the car to make an impact and stand out. Power for the car is a lot similar to that of the R8 LMX which went on sale earlier this year and was only the second ever vehicle to incorporate laser light technology with the first being the BMW I8.

What treats will the R8 competition deliver?

With one of the biggest changes made to the car coming in the form of its power output, we see that now the R8 carries an extra 20 brake horse power on top of that of the standard V10 model. That means in total, 562bhp is put out from the competition model. Thanks to this new power output it has been confirmed by Audi that the vehicle will now reach a top speed of 199 miles per hour. The leap from 0 to 60 miles per hour is now covered in a very quick time of 3.2 seconds. A brand new seven speed S tronic transmission system is also offered with the competition as are the new fittings of carbon ceramic brakes.

Now moving on to some of the overall changes that have been made to the bodywork of the limited edition car, carbon fibre materials have now been located around the car in order to help boost performance and agility. A Gloss Black design has also been focused upon with the R8 competition model as we now see a Gloss Black rear wing, exhaust pipes and the wheels of the vehicle are also detailed in the same paint scheme. Trim levels, interior specs and paint schemes are also fully customisable and the customers making the purchase on the car can decide these features for themselves.

When will order books open on the R8 competition?

It has been confirmed by the Audi brand that the car will have its order books opened up later on this month with its first set of deliveries arriving for US customers from early on into next year.
