At 11.45 today, the American manufacturer Ford officially revealed their brand new S Max model from the Paris motor show. Revealed alongside the new C Max, the S Max is one of the biggest selling family vehicles that Ford has to offer and the mass manufacturer have officially confirmed some brand new details regarding the design of the car and some of its technical specifications. The vehicle has been confirmed to be the first time ever that the S Max has been used as a four wheel drive variant and it also takes some design and styling features from the Fiesta and the Focus and it also shares some features taken from the big selling Mondeo model too. Driving dynamics and fuel economy have been two of the biggest features worked upon this time around and Ford may definitely have a winner on their hands with this brand new addition to the S Max line up.
The new S Max specifications and features revealed
So with Ford having such a big presence at this years show, they have announced some great features and specifications that come as part of the package and it looks to be a good line up so far. So beginning with the exterior design of the car, we see that the brand has included the fittings of a new chrome trapezoidal grille and a brand new set of sculptured headlights which design was taken from the brands Focus and Fiesta models. A long sloping windscreen linked to the bonnet has been revealed which helps bring into play that dynamic ability of the car as have the brand new swept back headlights. The vehicle comes as a seven seater MPG model and both the second and third row of seats are power folded.
Now moving onto the technological features that a find a place into the car, Ford officially confirmed today that they have included the following: Lane keeping assistance, adaptive steering,blind spot monitoring and an automatic braking system has also been included this time around. There are some optional extras confirmed for the car too which include heated seating and cooled massaging seats.
Regarding the engine to come along with the car, this still remains quiet at the moment as Ford have remained silent on the matter. It is highly believed that a good range will come along with the car though which will include both petrol and diesel and the brands new Ecoboost line up also. A total of four 2.0 TDCI units are expected to come along which contain power deliverances coming it at 118 bhp, 148 and 177 brake horse power. The final 2.0 TDCI model is expected to be the companies brand new Ecboost engine which will put out 237 brake horse power. A 1.5 litre Ecboost option is also expected to make an appearance which will develop 158 brake horse power. A standard six speed manual transmission system comes available across the whole range but the 148 and 177 horse power delivering units will include the option of a dual clutch transmission system.
With such a vast range of engines on offer, we see that the new S Max could certainly bring the fight to other family vehicles on the market including the Citroen C4 and the Qashqai from Nissan amongst many more.
How much will the brand new Ford S Max cost you?
It has been confirmed that the brand new S Max is all set to go on sale from next year and will arrive in your local Ford dealership from the Summer time. In regards to how much you can expect to spend on this brand new S Max model, a purchase price in the £24,000 area is expected.
