At GapInsurance123 were are justifiably proud of our Gap Insurance products. The features and benefits we provide compare favourably with any other product in the market, and we are happy to discuss this with anyone who would doubt it.
Of course we often have our products questioned by motor dealers, who have to justify the huge differences in premium prices between GapInsurance123 and the prices they wish to charge. Whist this can be more than a little annoying we are always happy to discuss our policies, and compare them with the ones on offer at your local dealership.
We encounters a typical discussion recently with a Sales Manager at a Main Dealer, who was simply aghast that a customer was comparing his policy with a GapInsurance123 Combined Return to Invoice cover. The 80 year old customer, who had been advised to shop around for Gap Insurance by his daughter, was met with derision by the Sales Manager when he said he may buy Gap Insurance from GapInsurance123.
"Well it won't be as good as our policy, ours is underwritten by the manufacturer. Let me take a look at the policy and I will tear it to bits."
Naturally the customer was a little taken aback by this, and called GapInsurance123 to ask if he could get a copy of the documents for the dealer to compare. Of course at GapInsurance123 we are always more than happy to put our policies to the test. To give the customer even more confidence we simply asked for the telephone number of our policy to call and discuss with the Sales Manager directly.
What an interesting experience that was!
When we contacted the Sales Manager, and introduced ourselves as GapInsurance123 he simply wanted us to forward our policies so he could take a look, we explained that we would be more than happy to answer his concerns directly, if he cared to expand on them.
"Well you could just take the man's money and disappear. We hear of it all the time with online Gap Insurance companies" - We pointed out that GapInsurance123 products are underwritten by an insurer, and backed by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. We also asked him to name an online Gap Insurance provider who has done what he has claimed. He could not.
"Our policies are underwritten by the manufacturer." - We pointed out that they were not, they were underwritten by an insurer, independent of the manufacturer. In fact the manufacturer would have no part in the underwriting or claims process.
"You will have lots of exclusions where you just will not pay out." - We explained that our products have been independently rated by Defaqto as a 5 Star standard for two years running, as well as being featured on the
Which report for three years running. We also pointed out that the product he was offering had not achieved either of these. We invited him to find any features in our policy terms that would preclude a legitimate claim, he could not but added
'There must be some'.
We then pointed out that the GapInsurance123 policy could be transferred to another vehicle, if the customer changed the vehicle before the end of the term, and pointed out that the Motor Dealer product could not.
We then pointed out that the
GapInsurance123 policy would cover the cost of the £300 Paint and Fabric protection treatment the dealer had sold to the customer, and pointed out that the Motor Dealer product would not.
We then asked the Sales Manager why he wanted to charge the customer £399 for a policy that GapInsurance123 could provide equivalent for £96..................................the phone went dead.
If your Motor Dealer ever tries to say that the policy they offer is better than a GapInsurance123 policy then please ask them to call us, we are more than happy to discuss and compare in detail with them if they wish. They may well be right.......................but we sincerely doubt it!
