Dubai adopts Lamborghini as its police force

Police in Dubai have annouced it will from now on use Lamborghini cars.

The Lamborghini Aventador, worth up to £260,000 occupies a V12 engine that allows it to do 0-60mph in 2.9 seconds and a maximum speed of 217 mph.

The police force has introduced the car at the same time as they are pushing a campaign to curb the increasingly popular trend by young Dubai nationals to use the country’s vast deserts as short cuts and also racing tracks. The police force is threatening those found of breaking the 125mph speed limit with fines and even threats of imprisonment.

However Dubai nationals have voiced concerns. One national has said: “If the roads are all clear, and it’s late and dark, why do I need to drive slow and risk even falling asleep when I can drive quicker to get home?”. I don’t think it is fair that they risk losing their jobs for driving above 200 kmph. Every car can easily go above 200 kmph. It is better to raise awareness in this regard instead of imposing such a harsh rule.”
