What Car and Warranty Direct have just finished a report into the top most reliable used cars in the UK.
For the 7th year in a row Honda has come out on top as the most reliable used car!
In real terms this means that you have a less than 1 in 10 chance of having a brake down in a 12 month period. Not surprisingly other Japanese brands normally known for reliability such as Toyota and Lexus where close behind.
The reports where based on policies bought from the Warranty specialists for cars between 3 and 10 years old and as well as showing which cars where less likely to brake down they also highlighted the brands which you are most likely to be let down by.
The state of our roads and pot holes are being predominately blamed for the most common form of problem which was from axle and suspension. In fact this accounted for a mammoth 28.5 % of all warranty claims while electric faults came in a close second at 24.3%
The top ten was completely dominated by manufactures from the Far East with Chevrolet being the only US brand. Surprisingly it also had the lowest average garage bill at just £227.
No guess's for predicting the most expensive Porsche with a tear jerking average repair bill of £623.
There where however some big surprises with brands that are not normally associated with un reliability such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Jaguar in the bottom 10 with the nations new success story Land Rover being shown as the Uk's most unreliable with over 71% braking down at least once within the first 12 months.
The figures may not be nice reading but please remember that these are based on actual statistics produced by one of the Uks leading Warranty specialist and are purely a reflection of their experiences and rates of failure.
