Congested Crossover Market to Worsen

The Crossover Market itself is not in danger, but the congestion and choice will be a factor in the recent reduction in sales. The crossover market this year has seen a number of new additions entered into it, such as the Vauxhall Mokka and the Ford Eco Sport.

Last Year, was a record year for the pioneering crossover beginners Nissan Juke along with the Qashqai. The Juke dominated the sales figures for months on end with sales figures doubling over the course of a couple of months at a time. However, since the turn of the year and the release of more crossover models, sales have slumped for not only the Juke but other models in the market.

Is it the fact that there is too much choice for the consumer in the Crossover Market?

Maybe, but manufacturers continue to ponder new models and take the risk by entering the market. On the other hand, some manufacturers have withdrew from the Crossover market in the UK in particular as the competition gets hot. For Example, Toyota have withdrew from the market based on a dramatic decline in December 2012 and January 2013.

Vauxhall have seen a success with the recent addition of the Mokka into the market, but not to the same standard of success that the Juke model had last year. However, they continue to ponder and dream up new ideas of the crossover version of the city car, the Vauxhall Adam.

Suzuki are yet to enter the new crossover market and plan to further congest the market in the next few months. The new Suzuki S Cross will join the race as it looks to sit below the Grand Vitara in the range of models, rather than replace it as suggested in the media.
