The Geneva Motor Show this year publicised the dawn of a brand new age of small cars, so the Colibri, the tiny innovative Mobility Automobile is very well placed to take advantage of this brand new era.
Meaning hummingbird, the Colibri is a single seater, small, three door electric car that will be going on sale later on this year. It is priced at €10,000, which is the equivalent of £8,340 along with battery rental charges. It could definitely go head to head with cars such as the Toyota Aygo, the Peugeot 108 and the Citroen C1, not forgetting the brand new innovative Twingo model from Renault. It is also allegedly going to be that even more sophisticated than it's closest rival, the quirky and conceptual Renauilt Twizy electric vehicle.
Though these vehicles do offer more seats than the Colibri, along with a well known and well established dealer network, the car's tiny dimensions along with it's electric powertrain may make it an even more tempting proposition for those about the city and for people who commute alone.
The model is being marketed as an agile city car by it's German maker, along with being described as certainly comfortable and being a spacious parking miracle. Though these are not just throwaway statements, there is a real sense that the Colibri model has been thought through thoroughly.
The Colibri electirc vehicle is 1.18m wide, 1.30m tall and 2.75m long. From these dimensions it is clear that the vehicle is not only going to be easier to manoeuvre into tight spaces but two of the vehicles will actually fit into one space.
Looking at the Colibri model, it is more Japanese than it is European in it's styling. The doors are very European however, as the Colibri has a pair of Mercedes esque gullwing openings which can be locked and unlocked via someone's smartphone.
