Bluecar Electric Car Scheme

Bluecar Scheme

French Billionaire tycoon, Vincent Bollore, has stated that he will introduce the first ever electric car point to point scheme in the UK. The scheme will begin in the capital and will allow drivers to use smart cards or phones to book an Electric Bluecar for short journeys across the city.

The Bluecar scheme is set to launch in March of next year and will feature 100 models at the start up date. The schemes number of models could extend to as much as 3,000 models depending on public demand and available parking.

The electric car market has become one of the most in demand markets in the UK today. The Nissan Leaf is the markets current leader with sales also expected to go to BMW. BMW have recently released the i-3 model which has been labelled as being the most eagerly anticipated model to ever grace the automotive world.

The use and popularity of the electric car is continuously increasing as more and more motorists are educated in how the electric car could help the way we live. The UK Government have also been big helpers in the rise of the electric car market. This is because of the £5,000 Government incentive to buy a low emission/ electric car.

The Government have also announced plans to invest over £9 Million in building the infrastructure of the electric car. This will encourage more people to buy an electrically powered vehicle and help firms like the Bluecar.

London currently has approximately 1,400 charging points which remain generally unused, however, with this number of charging points available, it makes a prime place for the Bluecar firm. The Bluecar firm are also set to illustrate the demand for electrically powered models and help build up and invest in the infrastructure themselves.

The eco friendly models will no longer include the Toyota Prius as more and more models such as the BMW i3 and the Nissan Leaf join the electric car market.
