Audi hit alltime sales records


Audi have hit an alltime record from 2012, actually delivering over 1,455,000 vehicles to consumers, which is up by 11.7%  from the year before. The German giant produced a turnover of £42.6 billion and the firm's profits were up in 2012 to £4.7 billion, which is a great result Audi have said because of the investment that is being made in future models, along with production facilities. The return on sales for Audi was 11% and the return on investment was 30.9%. 

The best selling model last year for Audi was the A4 saloon, which produced sales of over 216,000. Following closely behind the A4 was the A6 Saloon, selling 214,000 and the Q5 came in shortly behind that selling almost 206,000. Audi also sold 57,778 Audi A6 Avants.

The models that showed the biggest gain for the Audi company were seen with the Audi Q3 model, which saw sales for the model jumping to 91,841 units from the part sales from 2011 of 9288. The Q7 sold 56,193 units aswell in 2012 and the A5 Sportback also produced strong sales, with 53,522 sold.

Lamborghini, part of the brand group of Audi sold 2081 cars this previous year, which was up from the 1602 they sold in 2011. The total was made up by Gallardos, 1161 being sold and Aventadors selling 922. The third brand for Audi Ducati also sold 41,102 motorcycles, which is an alltime record for the Italian company.

Rupert Stadler, who is the boss of Audi explained that the sales for Audi have doubled this past decade and the brand has achieved alltime high sales in all regions throughout the world. Sales proved to be up by 28% in Asia and up by 12% in North America.

In the United Kingdom Audi sales reached 123,000 units, which is up 7% from 2011, this leaves Audi neck and neck with BMW in the United Kingdom.
