The R1 is one of the most well known and recognised sports bikes on the market right now and has been a great seller for the Yamaha brand ever since its very first model was launched onto our roads back in 1998. A total of seven different variations of the R1 have gone on sale since this time and now we are expecting to see the arrival of a brand new addition next year. The Yamaha firm have not confirmed this as of yet but an unknown Japanese source has reported that a brand new R1 is to take to the streets at some point throughout the course of next year. A brand new R6 is also expected to be launched towards the end of this year. It is a sports bike which has helped to make the sports bike division more popular than ever before and has been a two wheeled machine which has certainly brought out the best in some top competition from Suzuki amongst other brands. So what can we expect to receive with this brand new R1 if is indeed set to go on sale?.
Firstly it has been reported that the four cylinder engine unit used in the latest R1 is set to make its arrival felt once again and it is believed that two different variations of the bike are set to go on sale with the racer version set to be the most powerful. Details are quiet on the models right now but there are some features which have been stated will come along with the racer model. 230 brake horse power is expected to be delivered upon by the new R1 addition. An electronic suspension system and traction control are also believed to come along with the racer R1 as standard. A dual clutch transmission system has also been rumoured to come along with the revised R1.
The closest thing currently in existence to the confirmation of a new R1 is a teaser trailer video that Yamaha themselves have produced and posted online which shows concept sketches and a bike from the riders view flying around a track. “The beginning of a new era” is shown on the trailer followed near the end of the video which states “November 3rd”.
Well that is where the new R1 could fit into place. The 3rd of November is the day before the EICMA motorcycle show which each year brings in some brand new motorcycle reveals. So could we see the new R1 at the show this year?. Expectations are certainly high.
