The all electric Ford Focus to arrive this September

American manufacturer Ford are  all set for this September which is when the world sees the introduction of the brands all new, all electric Focus model. The Focus has gone down as one of the mass manufacturers biggest selling vehicles of all time and has certainly made a statement since the very first Focus model was brought to the world back in 1998. Ford are responsible for some of the finest city cars on the planet. Take the Fiesta for example which has been officially named the UK's best selling vehicle of all time. Over the course of the recent years, Ford have also contributed to technological advancements in the car industry and have introduced the likes of a solar powered vehicle as of late. Like all manufacturers though, the company are joining the electric range of cars on offer and have decided to bring in the combination of one of their best selling vehicles, the Focus and the electric variety for one unique driving experience.

What can you expect from the all electric Ford Focus ?

Well the official name for the car is the BEV which stands for Battery electric vehicle. There will be no engine coming into play with this new addition to the range when it launches in September instead it will indeed be all electric. The fitting of an AC electric motor is what will keep the new Focus running. The motor will develop on 130 units of brake horse power and will help boost the car to overall top speeds of 90 miles per hour. You can expect this Focus BEV to make the jump to 62 mph from a standing start in a good steady time of 9.5 seconds. From a full charge on the Focus BEV it has been confirmed that you are looking at an all round range of 100 miles before needing to stop to charge up again.

As standard for the all electric Focus, the firm have also included some additional pieces of kit for you to sink your teeth into. We see some features such as central locking, electric windows,a DAB digital radio and air conditioning as standard make for some good selling points for the car.

Many manufacturers over the recent number of years have decided to jump into the electric side of things as far as their cars are concerned. The main first to make it big was the Prius line up from the Japanese Toyota brand. Other vehicles such as the Nissan Leaf and the i3 from BMW have also made it big. So can Ford now take their turn to leave a lasting impression on the EV market ?.

What will the Ford Focus BEV go on sale for ?

Well as we have previously stated, the Focus BEV will arrive in Ford showrooms from September of this year. In terms of how much you can expect to pay out for a brand new version of the car at launch time, expect to make the purchase for a total cost of £25,000 which includes the standard government grant.
