Mazda Engine Technology

Mazda Engine Technology

As more and more manufacturers move into the electric car market to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions, Mazda have been developing and refining petrol engines to beat the efficiency of an electrically powered car.

Mazda have today announced that future Mazda petrol powered models will feature a 30 per cent increase in fuel economy thanks to new engine technology. The Japanese firm believe that the engines will be that impressive they will achieve figures that eclipse the electric car industry all together.

This statement will be immediately upsetting the likes of Nissan who have dominated and enjoyed the success of the electric car market and BMW, who have recently invested £2 billion into the development of electric car technology.

The electric car market and hybrid car market have both recently doubled in terms of sales in the likes of the UK and other markets across Europe have also followed suit. The demand for the electric car is only set to increase as a whole host of new models and new manufacturers join the market.

However, by 2020 Mazda plan on attracting customers who have purchased an electric model because of the fuel efficiency yet still wish they could have had a petrol powered model. Mazda also believe that those who have not chosen to purchase a hybrid or electrically powered vehicle may choose the Mazda as an alternative route.

The firm have publicly announced previously that they had no intentions to join the electric car market or to develop hybrid models in order to meet strict guidelines on emissions. Instead the firm have announced that the next generation of SkyActiv models will more than beat the likes of electrically powered models.

Mazda have announced that they will be planning on releasing models with the latest engine technology by 2020.
