Manufacturers seem to change workers in their management teams almost every week, with many trading workers between themselves. This week, a few manufacturers have changed their management teams. Here's a brief overview of a few of the recent changes.
After six years as the chief of American operations for Bugatti, John Hill has left. This left the company no choice but to replace him, especially as the US and Canada account for a quarter of all Bugattis sold. The role is to be filled by Maurizio Parlato.
Parlato comes to the company from Lotus, having held jobs in many positions including in companies Ferrari and Maserati. He joins the Bugatti team as chief operating officer at a time when the company is trying to move the last few dozen Veyrons before they can move onto it's successor. He'll have a network of 13 dealers to manage.
Though only announced on the 25th February, Parlato took up his new position on February 15th.
Lexus has reorganised the upper ranks of it's management team by adding a new head of Lexus International. This role goes to Tokuo Fukuichi, Toyota's global design boss. Fukiuchi will keep his role as overall head of design for Toyota, Lexus and Scion, and assume his position as head of Lexus and will join it's board on April 1st.
Fukiuchi is well known for being a designer who pushes the envelope and experiments widely. He is responsible for designing the rear drive Toyota Previa and Lexus LF-NX concept. The man himself commented on his design ethics, saying that, “Regarding changes in design, no one has 100 percent confidence. No one can really say with pure certainty that, 'In two years, this will sell well.'”
Fukiuchi replaces Kiotaka Ise, who is to become Toyota's Research and Development's chief officer.
The new president of Southeast Asia operations for General Motors, Tim Zimmerman, has until recently been managing director of Peugeot UK. Zimmerman comes to GM from PSA Peugeot Citroen, where he has worked since 1986 in vehicle and parts sales, marketing and management in the UK, France, the Netherlands and China. His most recent post was managing director of Peugeot Motor Co in the UK.
His new role will see him succeed Jim DeLuca, who has been leading the Southeast Asia operations on an interim basis. DeLuca was recently appointed GM executive vice president, Global Manufacturing.
Zimmerman will be responsible for expanding operations in the region and be based at the new Singapore headquarters of GM International Operations (GMIO).
We wish all the new workers the best in their new roles and will keep you informed on any manufacturer management changes in the future.
