The brand new
Skoda Fabia is due next year and will be slotting right between the Rapid and the Citigo. Whilst Skoda is also focusing on SUVs, it has not forgot to keep the more traditional models fresh.
The all new
Skoda Fabia is expected to be arriving in the second half of next year.
Dr Frank Welsch, who is the head of development at Skoda said that the company has been planning the Fabia model alongside the Rapid and the Octavia, so it will not be changing a great deal in size terms. It will be gaining a completely new design, with propoertions optimised, so it will be a little lower and wider, more attractive but still a compact car.
Recent images that have been released across the internet show how the latest design language at Skoda will be distilled into the shape of a small hatch. Contrary to reports previously, the Fabia model will not be sitting on a shrunk version of the MQB platform, it will be using the most recent fuel efficient engines from the box of bits from the Volkswagen Group, along with the most recent infotainment systems, though it will not be an MQB.
Welsch went on to explain that MQB vehicles have been seen in the Golf class, though next it will be adapted for cars of a Passat size. In the future it will also be used for cars of a polo size, though not in time for the
Skoda Fabia.
He confirmed that there will not be a hot VRS, though other models are certainly in the pipeline. Welsch said that the company will keep the estate, it is not too expensive and popular in the city.
