Government Plan to Increase the Appeal of the Electric Car

Government Push For Electric Car Charge Stations!

The Government have recently announced that it will set aside a small amount of £37 million to install a mass amount of electric and charging infrastructure across the UK in order to help attract more motorists to the greener way of driving.

The Government have previously stated that they have the ability to spend up to £400 million on reducing vehicle emissions and have been offering a small government grant to all motorists who decide to go green and purchase an electric vehicle. The funds will be available until April 2015 the government have recently stated as they expect the sales of electric cars to keep growing and getting stronger throughout.

All the major manufacturers, such as Mercedes, BMW and Ford have all began producing electric powered vehicles, with Ford producing the new E Transit which will see the UK builders favourite Van go green. The manufacturers along with the Government have recently been looking at the need to introduce artificial noise for the new electric vehicles as pedestrians along with the blind may not be able to hear the vehicle approaching causing there to be a danger to pedestrians.

The Coallition Government will spread the cost and will only cover approximately 75% of the total cost of implementing the charge points along with other government incentives associated with the target of reducing emissions along noise pollution etc.

The Government have targeted the successful schemes of park and ride at train stations as a way of attracting more part time motorists who leave their cars stationary in the car park. The Government aim to install a number of charge points in the station car parks as a way of conveniently charging their vehicle. Large Supermarkets such as Asda have already began to support the scheme by offering various charge up stations in the car parks of their shopping centres.

Electric vehicle charge points will become a vision of the future and may even become the way of life for motorists of the future. One thing to think about is the view of the charge points as they look to be as used as the lamp post or maybe slightly less in the form of a post box. Electric charge up points will have to be placed in a convenient and less landscaping view as the purpose of the electric car is to reduce emissions and preserve the way of the world and all things in it etc etc.
