Toyota FuelCell Vehicles
It has been announced by the world's best selling manufacturer that they plan on having fuel cell vehicles on sale by 2015. Toyota announced the news whilst revealing the new Aygo models at the Geneva Motor Show recently.
However, whilst Toyota have released plans to put fuel cell vehicles on the market by 2015, the mass market manufacturer are yet to state which markets within Europe would receive the models.
Toyota have recently fallen behind in the alternative fuel race as the likes of Nissan lead the way in the electric car market and a wide range of manufacturers develop more fuel efficient vehicles. The Toyota Prius model has long been the car of the future with breathtaking fuel efficiency and Hybrid technology, however, Toyota seemed to have taken a step in the right direction with the Fuel Cell technology.
Due to the infrastructure behind hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, it will be very difficult for the Toyota brand to add the hydrogen models to a number of different markets including the UK. The UK Government have recently announced a massive investment in building electric car infrastructure.
It is also believed that the Toyota brand are currently developing a second generation of fuel cell vehicles alongside BMW. BMW have recently joined the electric car market with exciting I-Range of vehicles. BMW plan on dominating the electric car market with both the i-3 and the i-8 models.
BMW have targeted the success of the Nissan Leaf and hope to knock the Nissan branded model off the top spot. In terms of the cost of future Fuel Cell vehicles it is believed that the model will be priced at somewhere in the region of £58,000.
In terms of fuel prices and infrastructure, it is very difficult to assume any possible figures for the future costs and future hydrogen fuel prices.
