Owl survives for 2 days in SUV Grille

If you have been in the position of hitting an animal whilst driving, you obviously know that it is not a very nice experience. It is unintentional of course and can not always be helped and may cause you a bit of distress whilst you carry on on your journey. A woman from Florida experienced exactly the thing when her car hit a rather large bird as she was driving down the Florida turnpike last week. Like many other people she was deeply saddened as she carried on, though she didn't really think of the incident again once it had happened
.

The following day whilst she was parked in a shopping centre however, on returning to her vehicle another motorist came over and told her that there was a bird stuck in the grille of her SUV. Surely this Is not a nice thing to experience, knowing that you have been driving around with a dead bird stuck to your car, however, the bird was not dead. When the woman bent down to look at the bird, she just saw two large yellow eyes staring back at her from within the grille.
.

The woman, Sonji Coney Williams explained that she had been driving at around 60 miles per hour and the owl had never moved. Originally she had just thought that she had hit a bird and she had felt extremely bad about it. Though this wasn't just your average bird, it was a great horned owl which had survives the ride of 138 miles between the Yeehaw Junction and Plantation, I think it's safe to say that this owl had the ride of it's life whilst being embedded in the grille of the car
.

The owl was not injured and an officer from Florida's department of Wildlife and Game arrived at the scene and helped to free the bird. What a happy ending.
