Top Ten Vehicle drivers least likely to make an Insurance claim

Recent research has shown the top ten vehicles that are least likely to make an insurance claim in the United Kingdom.

10. Subaru - Subaru drivers actually have the lowest claim rates of any United Kingdom motorists. This knocks the boy racer image out of the water. The Subaru is beginning to shred it's image as a vehicle for petrolheads and is being driven by safer and older drivers.

9. Smart - The second least likely to make an at fault insurance claim are drivers of Smart models. Owners of the city car are said to be extremely careful, which is seen as impressive due to the natural environment of the Smart being town centres. The model is also relatively inexpensive, small and not too powerful, so this all goes in the cars favour for low insurance premiums.

8. Fiat - Fiat drivers come up third as the least likely in the United Kingdom to make an insurance claim, with the Cinquecento model being the individual least claimed for model.

7. Nissan - Although Nissan makes high performance motors such as the new Nizmo range and the GT-R, there are also plenty of Juke, Note's and Qashqai's being sold and given the family focused nature of these particular models, careful drivers seem to be attracted to them. This makes Nissan drivers the fourt least likely in the United Kingdom to make an insurance claim.

6. Peugeot - Peugeot drivers come in at the fifth least likely, with later models being more family orientated and sensible than the iconic 205 GTi hot hatch for example.

5. Citroen - Coming in just after it's sister company Peugeot, perhaps the shared engineering between the two is successful in keeping the particular cars secure and safe, though perhaps the French allure just attracts more careful drivers.

4. Renault - To back the last theory up, Renault is up next joining the fans of French cars, as Renault drivers are the 7th least likely to make an at fault insurance claim in the United Kingdom. An impressive result for the French brands.

3. Vauxhall - Vauxhall is the second best selling car make in the United Kingdom, retaining thousands of Corsas, Astras and Insignias each year. Therefore it is a rather reassuring fact that it appears in the top 10 brands who's drivers are least likely to make a claim in the United Kingdom, given the number of Vauxhall's on our roads.

2. Mitsubishi - Similarly to Subaru, until recently was known for high performance saloon cars like the Evo X, though like Subaru, it has moved towards more family friendly vehicles recently. Even so Evo drivers like fast vehicles they are also safe drivers, giving the brand a place in the top 10 cars least likely to make an insurance claim in the United Kingdom.

1. Suzuki - Rounding off the list of ten is Suzuki, the 4x4 city car maker. The company sells one mildly sporty model, the Swift Sport, whilst the rest are focused on reliable and economical budget motoring. The customers attracted to Suzuki reflect this as they are among the top ten drivers who are least likely to make an insurance claim in the United Kingdom.
