The NSX supercar replacement from
Honda is due for 2015, with starting prices likely from £100,000.
The model is looking to return mid 2015 as a V6 petrol electric, four wheel drive hybrid supercar.
Honda has allegedly begun working on prototypes of the NSX already, as was shown in Ohio at the IndyCar Series, where the vehicle was used as a pace car.
The model will be powered by a direct-injection mid mounted V6 petrol engine. It gets a pair of electric motors driving the front axle, which can be used for for torque vectoring if sharper handling is desired. This also forms part of the companies Sport Hybrid Super Handling All Wheel Drive system that is fitted to the standard NSX model.
The rear axle will be driven by the V6 petrol engine, though this will be heightened by a third electric motor that will be built into the dual clutch newly developed gearbox.
Honda is aiming for a 400 brake horsepower output at least, with some insiders hinting that it may be even more than that.
The head of the NSX project, Ted Klaus confirmed that the power train for the model is being developed in Japan, whilst the development of the chassis will be completed in Ohio, in a brand new factory where the car will be built. Honda will also be using it's new tie up with Mclaren, which will see the firm providing engines for Mclaren's Formula 1 cars from 2015.
