A New Volkswagen E-Up

A New Volkswagen E-Up

The pioneers of the electric car have forced manufacturers such as Volkswagen, BMW and Audi to all look at the development of an electrically powered vehicle. Volkswagen have been the first to move as the new Volkswagen E-Up model is due for release.

Pioneering models such as the Nissan Leaf, Renault and Tesla models are now firmly established and bringing in a steady amount of sales. Therefore, due to the consistent growth of the electric car market, the worlds largest manufacturers have been forced to pay attention and develop their own electrically powered models.

However, some of them have taken different approaches in the way to attack the electric car market. Volkswagen have used existing models such as the Golf and the Up as a way of attracting customers who may want an alternative way of powering their vehicle. On the other hand, you have manufacturers such as BMW who have decided to build a whole new range around the electric car market.

BMW have decided to design a range around the futuristic thought of electric cars and will label them as the I range. Ford have gone down the same route to that of the Volkswagen brand as they look to release a brand new Ford Focus electric model.

Ford have been one of the most successful manufacturers over the past 12-18 months as they continue to run away with the sales within the UK. The UK has seen both the Fiesta and the Focus model top the charts all year round. However, the Volkswagen brand has topped the success of the Ford having been at the top of the European sales chart with the latest Volkswagen Golf model.

With both the Volkswagen and the Ford brand being two of the worlds largest manufacturers, the question is, which tactic will work best when launching into the electric car market. Volkswagen with both the Up and the Golf will look to shut out the market and further increase market share within the UK.
