The Vauxhall Insignia SuperSport facelift

The Facelifted 170 mile per hour Vauxhall Insignia VXR SuperSport is to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.

The company have been playing with the Insignia VXR SuperSport and giving some small engineering and minor cosmetic tweaks in line with the new and revised Insignia range, which is due to be arriving in October of this year. The 170 mile per hour Super Saloon model will be unleashed along with the Monza concept from Vauxhall at the Frankfurt Motor Show which takes place next month.

The car is available as a hatchback or a Sports Tourer and notable changes include headlights and an altered grill, whilst the extraordinary VXR chrome air intakes stay the same. At the back, lights have been re-styled with inserts of chrome which complete the outer changes of the vehicle, whilst the VXR tailpipes that are integrated in the rear bumper of the car are left completely unaffected.

On the interior of the vehicle, a redesigned centre console and new dials feature. There is also internet connectivity, bluetooth and a touchscreen that is eight inches with 3D navigation

Whilst the changes cosmetically are limited with the vehicle, engineers have been extremely busy modifying the all wheel drive chassis. About 60% of the VXR's suspension at the rear has been updated, with the company claiming a significant improvement on handling. Changes to the ESP are alleged to dial out understeer, whilst upgrades to the damping are supposed to give a moe comfortable and refined ride

The gearboxes and powertrain are the same, with a 320 brake horsepower 2.8 litre V6 turbo engine and a six speed manual or automatic gearbox being the only option. Performance is quick, with 0-60 miles per hour claiming 5.9 seconds in the hatchback, or just 2/10 later in the Sports Tourer, at 6.1 seconds.

The company adds that the Vauxhall Insignia VXR SuperSport is the fastest production car that you are able to buy in Britain that costs under £30,000, which is almost £9,000 than the closest rival of the car, the Audi S4.

The order books for the Insignia VXR SuperSport are open at the moment, with prices starting at £29,749 for the hatchback and £31,049 for the Sports Tourer.
