Vauxhall and Opel Receive £3.4 Billion Investment

Vauxhall and Opel Receive £3.4 Billion Investment

Vauxhall along with the Opel brand have been promised a £3.4 billion investment by owners General Motors. The Opel brand has been in somewhat disarray over the last number years after the brand has been accused as being to soft on the market.

Meanwhile, whilst the Opel brand has continued to struggle, sister brand Vauxhall has gone from strength to strength, especially in the UK where it remains at the top of the sales chart with both the Corsa and the Astra models respectively.

Vauxhall remain positive in the market in the UK and wish to overtake both the Ford Focus and the Ford Fiesta model in the UK sales market. Vauxhall along with Opel have been promised a massive investment of £3.4bn to further Vauxhall's success and return the Opel brand to profitability.

The new investment will continue and further development of existing and new models and both brands have announced the promise of 26 new models to have been released by 2016. It will see a new initiative put in place which will see the introduction of a whole host of new powertrains.

General Motors insist that the Opel brand will remain and will not take the Vauxhall name, however, the brand will adopt a certain level of Vauxhalls operations and successful and powerful marketing strategies. General Motors have also confirmed that the Opel brand is key to the success of the firm and a number of new models will look to return the brand to the heights it was at before.

The Opel brand has suffered because of the Economic situation of the European market and has seen sales slow in the top market share company of Germany. Budget brands such as Dacia have strived to success in Europe and Germany in particular and has contributed to the downfall that has been for the Opel brand.
