Volvo Drive E engines-BMW hydrogen production-the new Hyundai i20

BMW have confirmed that they are currently in the process of developing a brand new hydrogen vehicle. Hydrogen based FCV models have been the talk of the town recently with the new Toyota Mirai recently going on sale and Hyundai making their first set of deliveries on brand new IX35 vehicles. BMW are now the latest company to take a leap into the division. Testing on these vehicles is due to begin shortly and the company are looking to introduce brand new battery technology into these models. It has been stated though by research and development boss of BMW Ian Robertson that these vehicles may never reach production. The new technology coming into play with the hydrogen models has been worked upon with the help of Toyota also who are the first company to offer an FCV on the road. At the moment, electric vehicles are proving to be a hit for the company with the i3 electric vehicle providing some great success for the company so if hydrogen vehicles were to be launched in the future from BMW, could they prove to be just as successful. There is currently a lot of good feedback for the Toyota Mirai so it would be beneficial to the German auto maker to have Toyota on side with any future development.

Volvo developing their brand new Drive E engine

The rate in which we have seen the car industry grow over the course of the past few years has been incredible. We have seen a lot of new technology brought into play with some of the worlds most popular vehicles and alternative fuel cell vehicles which could hold a strong, positive place in the future of the industry. One of the latest developments from this side of the trade though is a brand new engine range in which Swedish company Volvo are currently developing. The new Drive E engine range is currently in concept phase right now but a 450 brake horse power output is to be delivered by the engine it is believed. The engine is expected to come in the form of a two litre capacity and will be a four cylinder unit. Volvo are attempting to revolutionise the industry with this new Drive E engine by announcing that the concept has received two parallel turbochargers which is a first for Volvo. The future development of the engine is somewhat unknown right now so there is no word on which cars would potentially benefit from this engine. As soon as we have more information on the range of new Drive E engines, we will keep you informed.

The new Hyundai i20 is now on sale

The brand new i20 model for the 2015 year from Hyundai has officially gone on sale and can be ordered right now via your nearest Hyundai showroom. What is it that this brand new model brings to the table though that its predecessors don't?. Well this new version of the i20 could very well turn out to be that city car you have been looking for. A steady rate of power is produced from the vehicle which sees 84bhp produced from the fitting of a 1.2 litre, four cylinder engine. It hits 105mph as a top speed and runs on a front wheel drive platform. That is not all though as three petrol engines and two diesels are also up for the taking. One of the big differences with this i20 though is the amount of added space that now comes along with the car, we see that the wheelbase of the i20 has now been extended by 45mm in total. The new i20 has been lowered and extended in length also and a new set of LED daytime running lights and slimmer headlights come into the equation. The 1.2 litre petrol unit is expected to be the most opted for option in the UK with a purchase price of £14,725 coming along with this particular variant. Order books on the vehicle are now open with their first set of deliveries coming in from January.
