Apple and Android smartphone connectivity is something that we see finding its place in a lot of vehicles in this day and age. We have seen many manufacturers incorporate the new technology which can serve as a range of different uses. Android and ios Apple connectivity can allow drivers to do things such as media stream via an infotainment system even play music through the cars speakers directly from their phone via Bluetooth connectivity also. One manufacturer who are not willing to give the technology a try for the time being though are Toyota. The firm have stated that they are not willing to adopt the new technology into their vehicles as of yet. This does not mean they wont ever use it but for the time being do not expect to see it anytime soon. The connectivity car play system which also allows driver and passengers to use apps and play games has been refused by Toyota on the American market this week which means the chances of the UK receiving the tech in Toyota cars is also looking slim. A statement from John Hanson who is the manager of Toyota technology and communications has said that the brand are happy with the current systems they use in the vehicle but may end up using Apple and Android connectivity in the future alongside many more manufacturers. Porsche are another company who are yet to use the technology.
So with this being said, does in car technology appeal to you as a good idea?. We have seen many advancements in the gadgets that are used in our vehicles over the years and smartphone connectivity such as 'Carplay' is just one of these features. Do these systems cause a distraction whilst behind the wheel though?. Mobile phone usage has been banned for drivers when they are behind the wheel which is a big reason in our opinion why in car technology has become increasingly more popular. New touch screen systems can often be found in our vehicles but also provide a range of good services such as satellite navigation and real time traffic information which can come us an advantage to us when driving. Are mobile games and other social media apps a good idea though?. Let us know your thoughts on this matter.
With these thoughts being taken into consideration, recent revealing has shown that more drivers are now using their mobile phone behind the wheel seeing a fourteen percent rise in the use of phones in the car compared to statistics in 2009 even after the new driving laws were brought into play. The majority of these offences have been drivers either sending text messages or using social media applications which leads back to our previous comments. In England alone, 1.6 percent of people across one hundred different locations were spotted using their phones whilst driving. If caught on the phone, drivers can be hit with a fine of upto £100.00 which was brought into play from 2013 with adults under the age of thirty being the populations biggest users of mobile phones whilst driving. Should the fine costs be raised to try and decrease the amount of offences?. Give us your thoughts on these recent findings.
