The Seat Leon ST Cupra has begun testing

Testing on the brand new Leon ST Cupra model from Spanish brand Seat has officially begun and a picture of the car testing has been released showing just what the car will look like. Alongside the Ibiza, the Leon is one of the best selling Seat models on the market and has been ever since the car was first introduced around the world back in 1999. Since this time we have seen three generations of the car become available which were the MK1,2 and 3. The Leon has been a vehicle which has kept up with brands like Volkswagen and Audi in the past as the same platform has been used in the line up. The new ST Cupra will officially mark the line ups top spec vehicle in the range and could be launched as early as next year.

What can we expect to find in the new ST Cupra model?

The vehicle is an estate version of the Leon and with an estate version you can expect to find a lot more interior space than past additions to the range as is demonstrated by the images that have been revealed of the car testing. The vehicle has received some new changes to the design structure as is demonstrated by the images of the car completely undisguised. The vents at the front of the car remain the same as the standard hatchback addition but some changes which have been noticed on the car are the new oval exhaust system, brand new brakes and calipers and a set of new alloy wheels. The vehicle has received 272mm of added length compared to the hatchback and the engine range to come along with the car is expected to remain the same.

With that being said, power and performance wise, you can expect to find the same 2.0 litre, turbocharged unit which will deliver on both 261bhp and 276 brake horse power. It has also been confirmed that a higher powered version of the car will also go on sale in the future which will see some new design features and parts thrown in including the likes of bigger alloys, gloss black design mirrors and a brand new rear spoiler will find a place of pride in the car too. The Leon has brought the fight to other top manufacturers around the world which include Vauxhall and Ford with the biggest selling vehicle in the UK, the Ford Fiesta. We see the estate version of the Leon as a top contender against some of the finest estate models on the market too and we are sure that this will certainly be demonstrated when the vehicle is launched.

When will the ST Leon Cupra arrive?

Prices are not yet confirmed for this new estate addition to the Seat Leon family however it is believed that the car will arrive on our roads early on into next year. We will bring you more on the vehicle as and when it is announced.
