New McLaren Mercedes F1 model
The McLaren F1 team struggled during the year of 2012 with drivers Jenson Button and Sergio Perez both struggling for results. Sergio Perez has since left the team and it has been rumoured that team boss Martin Whitmarsh is said to follow.
McLaren Group CEO and former team boss Ron Dennis is said to be taking over to try and turn the fortunes of the F1 team around. However, there are also rumours of Lotus team boss making the switch from Lotus to McLaren.
With a host a new rules and regulations being put in place, it is not yet known whether or not Red Bull Racing and current Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel will dominate the championship as much as they did during the 2013 season.
Sebastian Vettel drove a wonderful season last year and romped his way to victory leaving challengers Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen all left behind. EX- Mercedes Team boss Ross Brawn was also linked with the job.
The McLaren team failed on a wide range of points having failed to record to a single podium finish for the first time since 1980. Jenson Button may be wishing to reunite with his championship winning team boss, Ross Brawn. Button who dominated under the Brawn GP may be very keen to be reunited with his former team boss.
Ross Brawn has one of the most impressive CV's in the Formula 1 industry having been a major part in the dominance of Ferrari and Michael Schumacher during the early 2000's. However, McLaren Group CEO and former team boss, Ron Dennis, may have other ideas and wish to run the team his way.
The name and brand has been in a downward spiral for the last 12 months or so and since the departure of Lewis Hamilton sponsorships and merchandise has struggled to materialise. With a number of changes being made to the sport, The Formula 1 championship may be a little more interesting this time round for the McLaren Mercedes brand.
