The halo supercar from Infiniti is set for launch in 2017-2018, whilst the luxury manufacturer which is owned by Nissan decides whether it should have a mid or front engined layout.
Fintan Knight, who is the European Boss of
Infiniti said that the company is still evaluating the layout of the model. He went on to say that it is still on the table for a decision to be made, as is the powertrain.
Infiniti have previously showed the Emerg-e and Essence concepts to hint at how a supercar from the company could look. Whatever the spec of the model, it is more than likely to be engineered with an input from Formula 1 world champions Red Bull Racing. The involvement of Red Bull Racing's involvement is said to be a formality, it would leverage th companies sponsorship of the Formula 1 outfit. It is this reason why the power is likely to come from a V6 petrol engine with a hybrid system, to mirror that of a Formula 1 powertrain.

The company is just launching the Q50 saloon model, which is a replacement for the G37, with deliveries in the United Kingdom starting in October. Also coming soon is a crossover, similar size to the Nissan Juke, which is likely to be labelled the QX30, which will go on sale in 2015. It is likely to be previewed by a design concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
