Ford have officially let the cat out of the bag with their brand new S Max model which will go on sale this year. This new small MPV model has been much anticipated over the past number of months so to have all of the information in our hands is great. This new model will go on sale from the Summer time of this year with an exact date expected to be announced closer to the time. Ford are hoping for big sales on the new model and they look to achieve this by including a brand new platform not used in the S Max before which is also borrowed from the companies new Mondeo range. Much like before the new S Max will come in the form of a seven seater meaning if you're looking for that ideal family vehicle then this new car could very well be the one for you. Amongst announcing this exciting news, Ford also revealed their line up of brand new technology that will find a place inside of the vehicle also.
Five engines have firstly been announced for the brand new model three of which are diesels and the other two coming in the form of Ecoboost petrol technology. The Ecoboost engine range is the most popular units with both coming turbocharged carrying 1.5 litres and two litres. Power ranges from 158 to 237 brake horse power. Both diesels are also turbocharged with 148bhp and 178bhp. The final diesel is twin turbocharged giving out 210bhp. Some of the new technology to come thrown into the mix include adaptive LED headlights and a brand new back bumper is also fitted with the exhaust pipes integrated into it.
Safety has also proven to be a focus point for the brand with this new model as they now offer a new 180 degree camera which gives the driver a view of both the left and right sides of the car to help them pull out of traffic whilst remaining safe. Lane keeping assistance, blind spot monitoring and an automatic braking system are also included in the line up of new safety equipment. Ford have added these new features aswell as the new engine range in order to maintain a strong rivalry on the road with competition such as the Vauxhall Zafira and the 5008 from the Peugeot brand.
As stated earlier, the new Ford S Max model will officially become available from this coming Summer and although an exact price tag is yet to be revealed, the new S Max is expected to come in with a figure of around the £24,000 area.
