Changes for the F1 Season 2014

The changes in F1

A number of changes have been made in Formula 1 which is set to create a number of twists and turns in the fortunes of certain teams and drivers. It has been said that last seasons success of Red Bull and driver Sebastian Vettel caused a large number of viewers turning off.

This season we have already seen last seasons struggles, McLaren, setting the fastest time with new driver Kevin Magnussen and Red Bull being forced to retire early from the practise session. With Mark Webber retiring, the Red Bull team are even weaker, whilst the likes of Ferrari and McLaren are said to have taken a step forward.

Ferrari will have the strongest pairing in the field with Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso battling it out for the number one spot within the team. Ex Ferrari driver Felipe Massa received a lot of criticism in his last few years driving for Ferrari as many of the fans called for the return of Michael Schumacher. Felipe Massa is now driving for Williams BMW and will be looking to take points off teams at the top and could be a major part in the title race even if he isn’t competing directly.

Most recently, Bernie Ecclestone has announced that the final race in Abu Dhabi will be offering double points. However, the F1 organiser wants to introduce the double points for the last three races. With the large number of changes being made in the sport, it is very clear to see that viewers sat at home and those paying for tickets have not been entertained.

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton stated that Sebastian Vettel's dominance of the second half last season would have been the most boring watch for all viewers to have watched the sport. He likened it to the Ferrari dominance with Michael Schumacher, but stated watching Michael Schumacher dominate the sport was much more entertaining.
