A New Audi A 3 Cabriolet

A New Audi A 3 Cabriolet

Audi have released a number of images online of the new A3 cabriolet model just days before the Frankfurt Motor Show. The images weren't supposed to be shown until the Frankfurt Motor Show next week and the Audi A3 model was not the only model to be leaked online.

The Audi A3 was the beginning of a series of images that were leaked online earlier in the week. Other leaked models included a Mercedes, Range Rover and a Jaguar 4x4 concept model. The new A3 cabriolet concept model has been clearly based on the Saloon version rather than the hatchback version.

The image shown is with the roof down and folded away and it appears to be a fabric folding roof rather than the clever origami like ones made out of metal. The Audi brand will be focusing on costs during the current economic climate within the European car market.

The engine options are likely to be similar to that of the current A3 range at Audi, meaning that the choice of various TFSI and TDI engines will be an option. There have been a number of rumours circling the Audi model as a rumour in particular as hit the headlines.

An S3 turbocharged four cylinder engine version of the Cabriolet is rumoured to be in production at this very moment in the Audi factories over seas. However, neither Audi or Volkswagen have confirmed such developments and it is likely to be kept a secret until the model is forced to make a public appearance to attract interest.

Audi along with Volkswagen have recently joined the ever growing market of the electric car. The Nissan Leaf model has taken all the glory in the past 12 months and the German manufacturers are out to get a taste of the success. Audi, Volkswagen and BMW have all made plans to join the electric car market within 2013 and 2014.
