The Civic is one of the Honda brands biggest selling vehicles that has ever been put into production. Dating back to the seventies which is when the first generation Civic was launched, the car has brought much attention to the manufacturer especially when it comes to challenging some of the biggest and brightest that the car industry has to offer. It was not until 1997 however that Honda introduced the world to the Type R version of the car which is a more performance based addition of the vehicle. Next year however will see the arrival of the brand new Type R model and the car will be unveiled this week in Paris, before this though the Honda firm have officially confirmed some of the brand new specifications that will come along with the car including pricing and performance features.
Big changes have been made to the exterior of the vehicle and with the R range in the past being more power orientated than ever before, we also see the inclusion of a brand new engine unit which will help the car to deliver on a more powerful experience than that of the standard Civic. Engine wise we see that Honda have included the fitting of a 2.0 litre, turbo charged unit which will help the car to reach speed of 62 miles per hour from a standing start in a time of around six seconds flat. This officially marks the first time ever that a turbocharged unit has been used in a Civic Type R model because of this, we expect to see a power output coming from the car in around the 278bhp area. A six speed manual transmission system will also come along with the car as standard.
One of the main changes that have been confirmed to come along with the 2015 Civic Type R is the addition of a brand new driving mode which is the +R driving mode. With this activated, we see the engine respond much more better and more weight is added to the steering of the car because of this. A brand new change of the adaptive dampers to come along with the car. Thanks to this we see that the firmness of the dampers are altered judging on the driving conditions of the road that you are in. The likes of the Volkswagen Golf R and the Leon Cupra from the Seat brand are expected to be two of the finest rivals on the road for the new Civic Type R and we believe that the new Type R will very much deliver on this.
It is highly believed that this brand new addition to the Civic line up will officially go on sale from early on into next year and can be purchased from your closest Honda dealership/showroom. As for what kind of price you can expect to pay out for the new addition to the range when it does go on sale, expect to make the purchase for a cost in the £30,000 area. The car will be revealed in the flesh this week from the Paris motor show.
