2014 Vauxhall Corsa face-lifted

For the 2014 model year, Vauxhall have face-lifted their Corsa model and the model will be given an Adam style overhaul inside and out. Last year, the Corsa was the third best selling car in the UK behind the Ford Fiesta and Focus models, with over 80,000 sold that year. The new car has been spotted testing near Opel’s Rüsselsheim HQ in Germany and at the Nürburgring. Plus, prototypes have been seen on roads near Millbrook proving ground in the UK. Vauxhall is targeting improved ride and handling in the UK, the biggest European market for the model, to boost it's appeal here.

The 2014 Vauxhall Corsa styling and tech

The fsce-lifted model is likely to retain the same doors and tail end as the current model, while receiving a revised interior and a new look front end to make it appear more like the Vauxhall Adam city car. The model gains swept back intricate looking headlights, a low front number plate and a wide grille for it's new 2014 look.. A new low set grille, complete with a single bar running across the middle and a large centrally mounted Vauxhall badge.

Inside, the model gains a thick rimmed steering wheel, soft touch dash and instruments, glossy black plastics and chrome trim, similar to those in the Adam. It is expected to receive two infotainment systems with buyers able to opt for an Intellink touchscreen to download apps like sat nav through their smartphones for use in the car.

The 2014 Vauxhall Corsa specs

Power for the face-lifted model will come from a range of new engines including a new 113 brake horse power 1.0 litre three cylinder petrol, that will also join the Adam line up. This engine uses a turbo direct injection and stop-start to boost efficiency and will be combined with a new six speed manual gearbox.

A high performance variant using the 1.6 litre petrol engine from the Cascada may follow. The Corsa may also be offered with the company's new 1.6 litre CDTi diesel which meets Euro VI emissions rules and emits less than 100g./km of CO2.

Comments on the face-lifted 2014 Vauxhall Corsa

Designer, Mark Adams, commented on the interior of the model, “People have been saying that it’s going to be a stretched Adam, but it will have a personality of its own, even though they will share some of the brand D.N.A. I want to make a statement and say that I think the interior of the new Corsa will be the best supermini cabin in the market place. This is an area we are really dialing up more and more.” He went on to say, “Well my team benchmarks against Audi for quality and finish. They are the best in the business. I want to match them in that area – but also make a car that feels warm and fun, not too calculated and clinical.”

As the model is only receiving a facelift, the price is likely to remain similar to the current model, though new equipment could make it a little more expensive. The face-lifted Vauxhall Corsa is expected to be revealed in full at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in September with a release date rumoured to be close to the end of the year.
