Chevrolet to be pulled from Europe

General Motors to pull Chevrolet for Vauxhall benefit

General Motors who own a number of brands including Chevrolet and Vauxhall are set to pull the Chevrolet out of Europe as plans to return Vauxhall back to profitable ways by 2016.

The Chevrolet manufacturer has struggled with an image problem and reputation in central Europe and sales have somewhat disappeared. It has long been a rumour that the brand would be pulled from Europe due to the low percentage of sales which would allow marketing efforts to increase elsewhere.

The Chevrolet brand is set to announce a deal to become the official shirt sponsor of Manchester United. The Manchester United club as a brand is one of the most marketed and available football brands in the world and a shirt sponsor would do wonders for any brand.

Last year, Vauxhall cut operating losses by as much as 60% and managed to maintain market share with models such as the Adam an the Mokka. The Vauxhall brand this week have released two new Adam based models with one of them possibly holding the key for future success.

Rivals Ford have been the thorn in the side for the Vauxhall brand for a number of years and the success of the Fiesta and Focus models have kept them from achieving a higher number of sales. The 1.0 litre EcoSport engine has won a number of awards including the engine of the year 2013.

Kia along with a number of other manufacturers described the engine as a stroke of genius and a possible route for other manufacturers to take. The engine helps to reduce the running costs of the model and therefore makes it more of an attractive purchase to the motorist.

Therefore, the Vauxhall Adam model surprised a number of the worlds automotive journalists when it had a 1.0 litre EcoTec engine under the bonnet.
