New Mercedes CLA

Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake

The Mercedes Shooting Brake model has long been anticipated and in the news over the past 12 months and this week has seen the first spied testing pictures posted online.

The German brand announced the development of the CLA model earlier this year and although the Mercedes badged model is yet to have an official release date, it is thought that the model will not be officially released until 2015.

Mercedes have recently been focusing on the ever growing market of the electric car, as rivals BMW have built the most anticipated range of models to date. The German based brand as well as the electric car market leader Nissan, are set to face a considerable amount of competition from what is said to be the most anticipated range of models yet in the form of the BMW i-Range.

The BMW i-3 model has been critically claimed as being the biggest thing to enter the electric car market since the Nissan Leaf. However, the Euro safety rating for the model was only a four star, rather than the expected five star return usually seen by relating models.

The CLA Shooting Brake model will be the fifth product to come from the MFA architecture at the German brand. The A Class, B Class, CLA and GLA- Class models are all underpinned by the MFA production line.

The Mercedes brand has recently been criticised within a number of written articles as the likes of the Volkswagen owned brand Audi and main rivals BMW gain further ground on the Mercedes brand.

Audi have gained a considerable amount of ground on the likes of the BMW and Mercedes brand in terms of being a supreme luxury car manufacturer. The VW Group have also planned for the Porsche brand to make the change from being a sports car manufacturer to a luxury car manufacturer.

The Shooting Brake version of the Mercedes CLA model will have a number of exterior changes rather than a considerable amount of interior changes previously seen on other models.
