Prices for the new Renault Clio GT

Renault have announced prices for the new Clio GT, the new sporty model that ihas been designed to sit below the Renault RS 200 Turbo. This version has been designed to attract younger customers who have lower insurance running costs, with the same sporty technology and striking design of the RS 200. 

The Renault Clio GT has been given the same dual clutch EDC gearbox as the flagship, this model produces 118 brake horsepower and 190 newton metres of torque an impressive number for the 0-62 mile per hour sprint time of 9.9 seconds and 121 miles per hour top speed. 

The suspension has been upgraded also in comparison to the standard Clio model, which helps control the car when the vehicle is cornering. The model also benefits from the same R.S Drive system as the fastest Renault model, though there are two settings rather than three, sport and normal. Changing between the two ups the gearbox, alters the steering, the stability control and the throttle response. 

Along with a boost in the performance of the model, it also gets heavier styling such as a subtle rear spoiler, 17 inch grey GT alloys and side sills. Despite the Clio having a sporty intent, it returns rather tax friendly emission figures of 120 g and returns 54.3 miles per gallon, sitting in insurance group 14. 

There is plenty of extra equipment with the vehicle including sports seats, a leather steering wheel which has been branded with GT, TomTom Live sat-nav, the R-Link touchscreen infotainment system, an upgraded sound system, along with air conditioning as standard. 

£1,300 greater in expense than the range topping current model, the Clio GT is priced at £17,395, though most of this hike is down to the EDC dual clutch gearbox, which is rather complex.
