BMW looking to conquer the suv market with the new X1

BMW have officially revealed their brand new X1 model for 2016 and the vehicle is going to make history for the brand by being the first suv model in the companies history to be offered in front wheel drive format. The brand have made every attempt to make the new model different from the previous instalment and from what we know so far, the car looks like it could just very well do that. The suv market continues to grow and the new X1 could be that very vehicle which gives the German firm the advantage over the competition. Pictures of the new car were revealed this week aswell some specifications for the 2016 model and we have everything you need to know in this post today.

What specifications were revealed for the BMW X1?

BMW gave us some information regarding the new length and width measurements of the 2016 model and confirmed that space for heads and legs is certainly improving and those looking for more room in the boot will be in luck also. This now comes in at 505 litres. The brand also confirmed that manual six speed gearboxes will be on offer with the new car and buyers are also offered the choice of an eight speed automatic transmission system also as an option. These will be paired up to the range of engines that BMW are going to offer which include both petrol and diesel both engines will carry two litre of fuel with diesels mazing out at 228bhp and the petrols at a top power output of the same.

Trim levels to be offered for the new X1?

BMW have confirmed that overall, there is going to be five trims on offer with the standard model confirmed to be the first. After this we will also find the likes of Advantage, Sport Line,X Line and the range topping M Sports variation of the car to complete the line-up. BMW did not however confirm what extra equipment would be coming along with these specific trims but we expect this information to be revealed closer to the time of launch. The same can be said for the price tags that will also come along with the new vehicle. The Q range from Audi and the likes of the CX-5 from the Mazda brand have given the current X1 a run for its money over the years and we would expect much of the same from the new X1 aswell as far as rival competition is concerned.
