Vauxhall Corsa 2014 spied

The rumours of Vauxhall face-lifting their Corsa model for the 2014 year seem to be false, with the company dropping hints that a complete overhaul is more likely.

What confirms the Vauxhall Corsa overhaul?

Vauxhall have recently dropped it's biggest hint yet that the new Corsa to be introduced later this year will be more than a facelift, as the vehicle has been spied for the first time. The Corsa spotted wore a full body disguise, meaning it is highly likely that the vehicle is to gain a complete overhaul of it's outside and inside.

This brings an end to the speculation that the supermini would only be receiving a minor facelift for 2014, although the model will still be based on the same platform as the outgoing model.

Will the Vauxhall Corsa engines change?

In terms of performance, the model will gain a new range of engines for 2014. These are to include a 113brake horse power 1.0 litre three cylinder petrol engine which will be shared with the Adam, the Cascada's 1.6 litre petrol unit and Vauxhall's new 1.6 litre CDTi diesel that emits under 100g/km of CO2.

What changes have been made to the Vauxhall Corsa's exterior?

From the spy shots, it is possible to see that the new look front end continues to evoke the Adam. Just like the city car, a single chrome bar cuts across the wide low set grille, with the centrally mounted Vauxhall badge expanded too. A slight crease running down the middle of the bonnet further echoes the brand's current design language, however the wrap around headlights appear to have been redesigned for the Corsa.

Previous test cars have been sighted with the same doors and tail end as the current model but the latest shots appear to conceal a higher waistline and chunkier rear. The most notable change on the model is that the taillights now seem to stretch onto the boot lid and are linked by a pronounced ridge running across the back of the car.

The new 2014 Vauxhall Corsa is expected to be showcased in September at the 2014 Paris Motor Show and more information on the model will be revealed closer to it's debut.
