The Up! is one of the most popular city cars on sale right now for German manufacturer Volkswagen. We first seen the vehicle go on sale from 2011 and shares a lot of the very same features as competitors such as the Citigo from Skoda and the Seat Mii. This is due to the fact that the three vehicles are rebadged versions of each other and all have made a tremendous impact on the city car market in the past. There have been different variations of the car go on sale over the years which include the space Up and the hot Up!. Now though we are focusing our attention on a brand new addition to the range which will make its way to us in the shape and form of the brand new Street Up!. The vehicle was announced two years ago now with future plans outlined. The car was designed to be a turbo city car and has been stated that it will only go on sale in Germany. Right here in the United Kingdom is now also being considered for the vehicles launch also. So what new features can you expect to find in this brand new addition to the UP range and could this be the ideal vehicle for you?.
So with the car being stated to be a turbo city car, it may surprise you to find that power is not really the prime focus with the Street Up. The vehicle has now been confirmed to carry a 1.0 litre engine which will see a power deliverance of 74 brake horse power overall. A sprint from 0 to 62 miles per hour for the car has also been confirmed to be made in a time of 13.2 seconds. It is more the features and parts that VW have focused on with the vehicle though and this is clearly demonstrated by the welcome additions of new 16 inch alloy wheels, racing stripes which come in White and Green and run on the bonnet up over the roof of the Street Up. If we look into the interior of the car and what features are highlights from this point of view, we see that a newly revised steering wheel is also included this time around as are Black seat trims and a new gearstick. A brand new sports suspension system will also come thrown into the mix which makes for a much smoother driving experience than past additions to the range.
Companies such as Vauxhall with the Corsa VXR are taking the next step up in terms of a much more performance based vehicle as are Honda with their latest Civic Type R which was revealed a number of weeks ago from the Paris motor show. Are these new features and accessories enough to help maintain a high standard of success though for the Up from Volkswagen and help keep up the competition with these other top car firms on the market?.
There is currently no word from the mass manufacturer directly regarding a purchase price to come along with the car or even a launch date for the vehicle. Although the engine and power output may seem a little disappointing if you are fan of the brand new features such as the parts and accessories then this car could be ideal for you as a future purchase. The power to come along with the car is fairly standard for a city car so if you are looking for something easy going with a lot of class, keep your eye out for the arrival of the Volkswagen Street Up!.
