We here at Gap Insurance 123 are bringing you some of the latest and exciting news reports to make their way out of the automotive industry regarding new vehicle launches,motorbikes and everything going on behind the scenes. Today we have placed some of best vehicle news stories in one place and we begin with the addition of a newly updated Volkswagen Jetta model. The VW brand have updated this brand new model for the road with a range of brand new features and the updated version is now on sale. Two of the biggest changes that have been introduced to the car are the new engine ranges to come along with it.

 

Volkswagen have confirmed that they now offer a choice of either a 1.4 litre,unit or you can choose from a two litre TDI diesel unit. The petrol sees a power development of 148 brake horse power whereas if you opt for the diesel range there are two outputs which come in at 108 or 148bhp. The steering wheel has been revised as have the new set of LED lights. Regarding the equipment you will get for your money, the Jetta now offers a lot of kit as standard which include features such as stop/start technology,cruise control, a DAB digital radio,MP3 connectivity,air conditioning and a 3.5 inch infotainment system. Prices for the newly updated Jetta model begin at £21,425.

 

Mercedes announce the return of the Maybach line up

Maybach were a luxury car developer since 1909 until 1940. It was from this point until 1945 that the firm produced engines for tanks in the world war until 1945. It was after this time that Mercedes took over the brands badging and from 1997 the firm begun producing Maybach vehicles. Now though after the disappearance of the Maybach name in 2011, Mercedes have confirmed the revival of the Maybach name for a brand new vehicle set to be released next year. The company confirmed earlier today that the car will be known as the S600 and will feature similar design and structure to that of the S Class range.

 

The vehicle will be branded as a Maybach model and will contain a fully leather interior and will receive the fitting of a very powerful V12, six litre,twin turbocharged engine. An S500 and S400 Maybach have also been confirmed but the release time for these models has not been confirmed as of yet. It has been confirmed though that only the S600 variant will go on sale here in the UK and only six hundred units of the car will be made available. Expect to see the vehicle on the road from 2015.

 

The Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport receives updates

British brand Land Rover have also been in the news this week as they have confirmed the arrival of some brand new updates for both of their Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models. Fuel efficiency and performance rates have been updated for both models and the vehicles will also receive some new technology features that could wet your appetite. A brand new Terrain progress control system has been included on both models and works like a cruise control system when the vehicles are travelling off road. Both TDV6 and SDV6 engines are affected by these changes also as the engines now receive a single turbo charger rather than the twin turbochargers that were previously included. Fuel economy has been improved by 8.5% and C02 emissions are now produced at 182g/km.

 

The SDV6 engine on the Range Rover does however receive an update in terms of power as it now delivers 302 brake horse power which is an increase of 14bhp compared to the standard engine unit. A brand new HUD system is also included with the Range Rover as an optional extra which will cost you £1,000 on top of the purchase price.
